Confluence failed to connect the database after upgraded to the latest version.

Udaya Govinna June 16, 2019

I upgraded Confluence Version 06.15.02 to Version 06.15.04.

Now I can't open the Confluence server. It says, Confluence failed to establish a connection to your database.

  1. Did you check confluence.cfg.xml for database credentials?
  2. Can you verify if confluence server is able to ping/connect to database server?
  3. As a part of upgrade, hope you had backed up confluence.cfg.xml and using the same.

1. Checked the cfg.xml, found following entries.

Running cfg.xml
<property name="hibernate.connection.password"></property>
<property name="hibernate.connection.username">sa</property>

Backup cfg.xml
<property name="hibernate.connection.password"/>
<property name="hibernate.connection.username">sa</property>

How do I find the correct database credentials?

2. Server is self hosted and accessing Confluence locally.
