We're using collaborative editing in our confluence and one of the teams has 3 persons with the same name initial. Most of the times they all get the same color when editing, and combined with the same initial it makes a mess. We crowd-source our meeting notes and it's confusing to see 3 green Cs editing on the same topic. I get that for some teams it might just be a minor inconvenience, but in our case we would like to know who-is-who, to give priority to the most knowledgeable person for the topic (developer, tester, scrum master).
So, is there a way to configure the initials used in the collaborative editing?
Hello @Catalin !
After reading your question, I went through some testing and could verify that this is indeed the behavior of Collaborative editing.
With this in mind, I went ahead and created two different Feature requests. One of them tackles the issue with name initials and the other one tackles the issue with repeated colors. Here, take a look:
Currently, the best course of action is to vote and watch both reports. Voting helps to increase the issue visibility and watching it will keep you up to date with everything posted there. Be sure to voice your experience in the ticket as well!
Looking forward to your reply, Catalin!
@Diego, thank you for creating the two Feature requests. Voting right now!
A side question just for my curiosity: on our locally hosted Confluence server the user icons are all in a line and not overlapping like in your screenshot. Is it a difference due to Confluence Cloud vs Server?
Hello and thanks for getting back to me, @Catalin ! To answer your question, yes, this difference is between Confluence Server and Cloud. I ended using the cloud screenshots but the behavior is the same for both platforms. Here we have the differences:
I hope this clarifies things up!
For anyone who might find this thread, I have raised the same requests but aimed at our Cloud platform:
