Confluence adding USER DIRECTORY of Jira Server

If the USER DIRECTORY of JIRA is added to Confluence, does Confluence automatically update the imported JIRA groups/users when a new user/group is added later on? Is it recognized immediately or do we have to import users/groups again?

Hi @KP11

Yes - if the user directory is a local JIRA user directory, it will synch with Confluence automagically (if integrated) -

How quick new users or groups are recognized is based on the Synchronization interval set on the JIRA directory configuration screen, by default.

Or you can manually force a synchronization (JIRA User Directories screen, click Synchronize) which will allow you to see the change immediately.

No you should not have to import anything.

BTW - when using Crowd, the directory cache synchronization works the same (and manual synch is on whatever app Crowd is serving up directories to).

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Do you know specifically what password need to be use dot add the JIRA user directory for the application name with URL? We tried the Jira admin and server admin userids and it failed connection

Sys admin I think.

Did you try the username you set up when first adding the app in JIRA as a client?

We had to create a new one. Thanks
