Confluence - Unable to upload .mp4 file (>100mb)

Hi,

I am unable to attach any file greater than 100MB even after changing the attachment size in the Admin panel. The version of Confluence that I am using is - 6.3.2.

There is no problem with the baseURL and I have even verified the filesystem storage space, but still I am unable to get the upload to work.


Here is the error message:

The server is not responding. Please check that it is running.

 

Any suggestions??

Hello,

If you are on Confluence server platform, can you confirm if you are you using a proxy? If you have increased attachment size from the admin panel, your proxy might also have restrictions on file attachment size. You can test it by creating a bypass connector and test attachment upload this way :How to create an unproxied application link

Hi Igor,

Thank you for the suggestion, the upload was successful using the bypass method.

Now that one problem is fixed, I want to focus on the security concerns of using this way. We have hosted Confluence on AWS (data center) and having the unsecured port always ON does not seem to be a right way. May I have your thoughts on this aspect.

Hey,

You can still use a proxy, you just need to make sure it's configured right, in this case, the problem was not with a proxy but with attachments restrictions on the proxy.

For example, if you are using nginx , you have to adjust client_max_body_size param, as default is set to 100mb, every type of proxy has its own settings. We have configuration guides for some of them, you can scroll to the bottom of this page to see guides for them.

Ah, now I understand what's actually going on with the application server. 
Thank You for your assistance.

I shall work with my applications team to reconfigure the reverse proxy for Confluence.
