Confluence Licences

Hi, I work for a corporate where we have a 500 user licence of Confluence. Currently there are 484 staff using our Confluence site, we want to add another 30 users, do we have to now purchase a 2000 user licence or can we just increase it by 50 to a total of 550.

You could not upgrade your confluence licence in random number like 30, 50 bcz that won't be available .

if you want to add another 30 users then you have to buy 1000/2000 user licence confluence.

Indeed, the product licences are done in tiers.  Go 1 over the current tier and you need to move to the next tier.  So 500 users = 500 tier, 501 users = 1000 tier.
