Changing username not possible in Confluence 5.3

Horst Gutmann December 10, 2013

We use the internal as well as an LDAP based directory for managing our users, but accidentally had created a user in the internal directory which should have been imported later on from the external one.

Because of that I intended to rename this user and deactivate it using the new "rename user" feature in Confluence 5.3. Sadly, for some reason the username field in the user admin is still read-only. Could this be caused, for instance, by the order of the user directories or what else could cause this?

try this

To change a username:

  1. Navigate to the user's record:
    1. go to the user's profile and choose Adminster User, or
    2. go to Confluence Admin > Users and search for the user
  2. Choose Edit Details.
  3. Enter the new username and choose Submit.

That's exactly what I'm doing and how I even got to the edit form ;-) And as I said: I don't doubt that this approach normally works but for some reason it doesn't give me an editable field here.
