When I try to add a child page to a pre-existing one, I go to the page tree and hover over the existing page.

However, no icons (+) appear upon hover to let me add a child page. Nothing appears when I hover of the page in the page tree.

Do I need special admin access?

Hi @Ede Ephraim Welcome to the community!

In Confluence, the ability to add a child page from the page tree does not typically require special admin access. You should be able to do this as long as you have *Edit* permissions for the space and the parent page. However, if you are not seeing the "+" icon to add a child page, here are a few things to check:

1. **Permissions Check**:

   - Ensure that you have the necessary **Edit** permissions for the space and the specific page you are trying to add a child to. If you only have view permissions, you won't be able to create or edit pages.

     - Go to the page you want to add a child to, click on the three dots (•••) in the upper right corner, and see if the "Edit" button is available. If not, you likely don’t have the required permissions.

2. **Expand the Page Tree**:

   - Ensure that the page tree is fully expanded. Sometimes, if the parent page isn't fully loaded or expanded in the tree, the "+" icon won't show up.

3. **UI or Browser Glitch**:

   - Sometimes, browser extensions or cache issues can cause interface problems. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. Alternatively, you can try another browser to see if the issue persists.

4. **Add a Page Manually**:

   - As a workaround, you can still create a child page manually by navigating to the parent page, then click on the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner, and select **Add Child Page**. This will let you create the child page directly from the parent page, bypassing the page tree.

If none of these steps help, you might need to contact your Confluence admin to verify your permissions or check if there are any configuration issues within the space.
