Can confluence and JIRA 4.x run in the same servlet container? (Same Tomcat JRE)

Samuel Levin September 26, 2011

My VPS only has 512mb of RAM, so it would be more efficient for me to run both in the same container (I think).

Can anyone correct me on this, or confirm whether that's true. If true, can they be run in the same JRE?

Thanks!

It's not recommended since they were not designed to work that way. How about setting both apps to run behind apache, does that sounds like a plan?

Yes, but don't. Especially with only 512Mb - I wouldn't try to run either of them with less than 512Mb. You're also unsupported - although it can be made to work (and I have done it, albeit with 3Gb RAM), if anything goes wrong, everyone will tell you to separate them before you move into any serious debugging.
