I need to move the content of one space (a huge amount of content) into another space. Is there any limit to how many pages can be safely moved at once? I read somewhere that I can create a parent page in the original space, move all the space content under that as child pages, and then move the newly created parent page to into the destination space. Supposedly that keeps all the content links working, which is great. But I don't want the system to choke when I move the content.
I tried the solution with parent page - like it's mentioned in this post from some days ago
It totally worked fine! (tried it about a year ago - it was like 150 pages all together with a huge number of some huge attachments) - So I think this should work!
If you feel uncomfortable because of the mass of data you can also move it using database.
Thanks Fabienne, I did use a variation of this method. I was afraid to move the massive amount of content at once, but I did move groups of Parent pages with child pages, one at a time, and it worked fine.
However - Confluence users take note: there does appear to be a bug in either Confluence or the Firefox browser. After I'd click "Move," the Confluence page would just hang in a process-spin, never showing that the pages had been moved. I would wait several minutes and then have to close the web page tab - only to find out that my pages were in fact moving to the correct location after a few seconds. So, don't panic if your Confluence page appears to hang after you hit "Move." Open a new browser tab, check the destination space, and see if your pages are there.

Hi @Tina Hutchinson glad to hear it worked. I made similar expressions with hanging browsers. I found out it works best in Chrome for me. IE is worst ;)

Hi, the above is useful to know, ty.
I have a query on the links in or to the original location (space pages).
Do the URL's auto resolve to the new location ?
Kind regards,
Matt
