Is it possible to allow JSM Users in my organisation without a Confluence license to post comments on my Confluence page?

JSM-Access is activated.

I have tried to give everyone in my organization the commenting function, but it is not working. Is there a JSM user group predifined I could add or does the Jira Admin has to create one.

Hi,

If your users are accessing Confluence through Jira Service Management (JSM) without a separate Confluence license, they will have limited access to Confluence features, including commenting.

Users with JSM access can view Confluence pages that are linked to JSM projects, but they may not have full Confluence capabilities unless they have a Confluence license.

I think To enable commenting, you will need to provide them with Confluence licenses or consider alternative methods for gathering feedback.

Hi Andre,

As Kai mentioned, when you give access to unlicensed users from JSM, they have limited access, such as:

Active users who don't have product access to Confluence have very limited access to Confluence. They can view pages, but can't like, comment, edit, view the dashboard, use the space directory, see user profiles, or search your full instance.

You would need to grant them a Confluence license for them to comment.

We've been tracking similar requests to extend certain permissions to unlicensed users through JSM. You can help by voting on the requests and sharing your feedback and use case through the comment section.

  1. CONFCLOUD-45631 Unlicensed Users from Service Desk Have Limited Functions
  2. CONFCLOUD-43592 Add ability to configure permissions for unlicensed users

I hope this helps clear things up, and if you have any questions about that, please let us know.

Take care,
