Mahshid Ghane February 20, 2024

I have an admin on confluence. I have add a new user to the group, but he faces "you don't have permission to view this page" error. I want to know how can i add him to restricted page and give him view permission.

Hi @Mahshid Ghane

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Have you added the user/group to the space permissions ? If space permissions are not granted, editing the pages within this space will not be possible, regardless of user/group permissions assigned to the page.

Please refer - Assign Space Permissions and Permissions and restrictions to learn more about space permission and page restrictions.

Thank you, this means users in confluence-users group can edit pages in your space.

The next step is to verify if there are any page restrictions and make the necessary updates so that the user can view or edit the page.

To restrict who can view or edit a page or blog post:

  1. Choose the Restrictions  icon at the top of the page.
  2. Choose whether you just want to limit only who can Edit, or who can View and / or Edit.
  3. Enter users or groups then click Add to add them to the list.
If you chose Viewing and Editing restricted you can further specify for each person or group whether they can edit or just view the page.
  4. Apply the restrictions.

In addition I want to add several users with view permission to "Requirement 1" and "Requirement 2" on "Restricted page":

Dear Kishan I can't find the Restrictions icon at the top of the page!
I have sent you a pic of my Space tools

The screenshot suggests that you have two pages "Requirement 1" and "Requirement 2" that are restricted. Only the user "bahadori" can edit/view "Requirement 1" page and user "admin" can edit/view "Requirement 2" page.

If you click on the page you should see a lock icon on it (refer screenshot below) and follow the steps I mentioned previously -
