Accidentally hit the BACK button

Three times in the last few months, I have navigated away from a document I was editing (confluence meeting minutes).     I either accidentally hit the back button (on my mouse) or closed my windows.

I would have expected to pick-up my work where I left off since my auto-save it set to 30 seconds and expected to find my work in RECENT > WORKED ON … or…  RECENT > DRAFTS.  But no… nothing there.  Page looks like it did before I started editing.

Is there something I need to enable first or somewhere else I should look?   I guess I’m used to Google Docs where your work is always saved no matter what.

Thanks

-Ed

Hi @Edouard Landau

Is this a macro you were editing? Or just normal text? And was this a legacy editor page or the new editor?

I tried this just now on the new editor by:

  1. Going to a page and pressing edit
  2. Editing the page
  3. Pressing the back button
  4. Pressed edit again - and the modifications were still there
  5. Went to Recent Pages > Worked On and selected the page - I did find it showed the previous page's detail first, but a few seconds later it refreshed to the new modifications

You do have to press "Edit" again to see the modifications you've made as they are unpublished.

^ It might not be the same if it was a macro because these often save when you press "Save" or "Update" in the macro itself, but normal page edits should still be there!

Ugh.....

Yes it was a regular page... and I just went to check... nothing in "Recent > ..." but when I hit Edit, I saw my edits.  Now I feel dumb.   Thanks for pointing me in the right directions.

I must say that I did try this route last time and did not see my edits... so not sure what happened then but will just have to wait for it to happen again.

Thanks again,

-Ed

Don't feel too dumb, I did the same thing! I think it just takes a bit of time for the unpublished changes to make their way through the backend code, so if you navigate away and then back real quickly (as I did) it may appear that your changes were lost! For the most part, Atlassian's pretty good at this though :)

For anyone else with the problem, give it 5 minutes and hit "edit" again - it might have kept your changes after all.
