Space By Space Email Notification Options

There are spaces that I would like immediate email updates and spaces that I would like in the Daily Digest.  This would greatly reduce the number of emails I get.  For spaces I am closely connected to, I would like to see immediate updates.  For spaces I'm following that are more of an interest, I would like a Daily Digest.

In essence I would like a global setting like we do now, but would like to override those notifications on a space by basis.

It would also be very helpful to be able to watch a portion of a page tree within a space rather than the entire space.

@Brent Vierling You are laying out requirements that go beyond the capacity of the built-in Confluence notification considerations.

You may find the Custom Notifications module of the Better Content Archiving app interesting.

It allows you to tailor the Confluence notifications to your needs, and have a custom schedule on a space-by-space basis. CQL query helps you to collect the pages to notify about. You can even have a custom email template (subject and body) and select the recipients (page owners, specific users, specific groups, author, last modifier, etc.):

For example, you could implement a daily or weekly digest for the spaces you "follow" but don't want to actually "Watch". For spaces where you need immediate updates, you can keep the Confluence "Real-time updates" feature.

I recommend watching this tutorial for more ideas on how to set up your custom Confluence email notifications.

(Please note that Better Content Archiving for Confluence is a free/paid, supported app and I am part of the team developing it.)

Yes, I realize it is going outside the capabilities of the Confluence app.  That is why I posted this user story for the Confluence app.  I would like to see it have these capabilities as native to the app as it would benefit a large % of users of the app.

Combine the built-in notifications with those sent by the Better Content Archiving app!

The notifications sent by the app are extremely flexible, for example:

  1. You can send notifications limited to only one or more spaces by applying the notification scheme only to those spaces!
  2. Or, you can notifications limited to one or more spaces by using a CQL which limits a notification only to those spaces:

    space in (FOO, BAR, BAZ)

...where the list contains the space keys of the spaces.
  3. Also, you can send notifications limited to a page tree by using a CQL which limits the notification to the parent page and its all descendants:

    parent = 12345

...where 12345 is the ID of the parent page.

There are endless possibilities to fine-tune notifications, just see the notification configuration tutorial.

(Discl. this is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users.)
