As an engineer, I need to include figures in reports. There are two challenges.
First, Confluence does not have a drag-and-drop capability for adding figures. This is a table-stakes kind of feature these days. I hope that Atlassian has this on their short-term product road map.
My second issue is more detailed. If I perform a comparison between two data sets, I will automatically generate analysis figures in folders corresponding to the unique data set, but the figures will have the same filename. This makes it easy for me to browse my data analysis folder. Analysis figures with the same name correspond to the same analysis run.
To be concrete about it, suppose I have a generated figures named datasetA/summary.png and datasetB/summary.png and want to add both figures to a single Confluence page. It looks fine while editing the page, but some time after I hit the publish button, Confluence randomly selects one of the figures to stand in for both. This makes the product unusable for me.
