I just tried to import a zip file of Markdown files as a new Confluence space and was surprised that Confluence doesn't support that. Given so much information and documentation is written in Markdown these days (GitHub pages, Obsidian notes, static site generators like Hugo) I assumed it was already built into Confuence! I would appreciate having a Markdown import feature.
Note that there are already third-party tools that do this for Confluence, including one (markdown-confluence) which was written by an Atlassian (before he joined) so you could refer to that. I'm a former Atlassian myself and so I can suggest some options if you contact me, however I'm sure the Confluence architects would be well aware of how Markdown import could be done.
