Introducing single sign-on (SSO) for Confluence Mobile app!

We have been working hard to improve the log in experience for Confluence mobile.

Let’s be real, between “fat finger syndrome” and having to remember which email address and password combination we use, logging in on mobile is already annoying. Add to that having to do log in repeatedly because you keep getting logged out from our mobile app, it can really start to get frustrating.

If you have struggled to log in to Confluence Mobile, we hope that introducing single sign-on (SSO) makes your experience better. If it doesn’t, share the pain on your login experience with us by shaking your phone to send some feedback.

Don’t have Confluence mobile? Download the app for any mobile device.

Confluence is now one tap away!

We know there are many of you who use both Jira Mobile and Confluence Mobile. We have made it easier for you to go from Jira to Confluence and vis versa  simply select your account to confirm your login.

Also, if you use Confluence in both the mobile app and your mobile web browser, you won’t have to enter credentials when switching between them. When prompted, simply select your account to confirm your login. You only log in once, and you stay logged in!

Use your mobile’s password managers

Do you use Apple Keychain, LastPass, 1Password, or another password manager to remember your credentials on mobile? Having SSO means you can use these tools to log in to Confluence. Help ensure security thanks to a strong password, without memorization. Just one tap and you’re in.

Sign in with Apple (and more!)

Confluence Mobile already supports signing in with Google and Microsoft. Starting June 2020 we will also support Sign in with Apple. Confluence Mobile will soon support all three types of logins, in addition to our own email-based login. Whether you’re signing in or setting up a new Atlassian account, you have options.

Confluence Mobile now compatible with more identity providers

We made a deliberate decision to use mobile OAuth to enable our SSO experience. This new mobile OAuth solution will work better for Okta, Azure and other IDPs. It will also work for Google Login inside a SAML flow and Microsoft Intune managed devices which we currently don’t support. See here for a full list of IDPs we currently support.

How will it work? Do I have to do anything?

  • If you are already logged in, you will likely not be asked to log back in again. However, in some cases, cookies expire and you may be asked to log in once. We apologize for the inconvenience!

  • If you are logged out, just downloaded the app for the first time, or are creating a new account, you will be logging in via the new and improved flow. Easy.

  • If you are an admin and interested in learning more about integrating with your company’s identity provider, check out Atlassian Access.

Does this also work with self-managed server installations?
