Confluence whiteboards have officially arrived

We’re so excited to announce that we have started rolling out Confluence whiteboards to all Confluence customers! This new tool is designed to enhance your team's collaboration, allowing you to visually map out ideas, plans, and projects in a dynamic and interactive way 🤩

Confluence whiteboards will be progressively rolled out to customers in the coming weeks. Customers requiring import/export functionality will receive Confluence whiteboards at a later date as we build out functionality to support these requirements. Admins of these sites can choose to bypass this requirement and self-opt into Confluence whiteboards in the admin hub.

How do we know when it's available on our Confluence site?

Answer:  The Create button opens a 'pop-up' menu with the option of Page or Whiteboard

Being able to add visuals of marketing journeys to our project plans with Confluence whiteboards has been an absolute game-changer! We're aligning on requirements so much faster with our stakeholder teams — I truly don't know what I'd do without this feature and am SO GLAD to finally be able to share it with our amazing customers!

Where are these topics documented?
1.  How to save whiteboards?

2. How to rename whiteboards?

3. When can whiteboards be renamed?  After they have been shared?

I'm seeing several bugs when attempting to add a link to a whiteboard from/on a regular page.

Also when copying the URL for a whiteboard to a regular page.

For every other macro it's easy to to open the Edit or Setting dialog.  It's very different for  for whiteboards.  The margin you have to click on looks like just a border and it's very narrow.

How to Add a Link to a Whiteboard

1.  Open a regular page in the editor.

2. Copy the URL of a whiteboard to the page.
A image of the whiteboard will appear

3. Click on the margin/border of the image to open the Edit Link popup dialog.

4. Select Inline or URL.

Please put Whiteboard documentation under one heading dedicated to whiteboards.

What documentation page do you recommend to start?

This one looks good.

Please make the clickable border/margin thicker and make it obvious that it's clickable.
A small box/colored area just below the bottom margin would work.

This tool sounds great. However: Why are YOU deciding when to roll this out? As an admin i need to plan a transition and onboarding phase. Now everyone is running around wild and chaos starts to build....a simple button for the admin to roll out a feature with an impact such as Whiteboard is not too much to ask!

Furthermore: Why can't i not disable it??? Most companies use a similar tool like Mural, Miro or (hopefully not) Microsoft Whiteboard.

Are Confluence whiteboards really available for all customers, especially for customers with a Data Center license?

Cortlandt _ April 23, 2024

Are the whiteboard features that Standard license customers have now going to remain?
Or are Standard sites going to lose some features after a introductory period?
