Confluence Mobile Update: Introducing upgraded page permissions for iOS and Android

Hi! I’m Chloe, a product manager on the Confluence mobile team. Today, our team is very excited to announce major upgrades to page permissions for our iOS and Android mobile apps.

Before, changing permissions on mobile was very limited. You could either make a page completely public or completely private, with nothing in between. This created friction in the sharing experience on mobile, leading to roadblocks with something as simple as granting page access to a teammate.

Now, on mobile, you have access to all of the same permissions functionality available on web. You can effortlessly select individual users and groups to grant read or edit access to. No more awkward "sorry, I'm not at my desk so I can't give you access" moments!

How it works:

  1. Navigate to the page you want to set permissions for, and click on the lock icon in the top menu bar to open the permissions menu

  2. Select from the three access options for your page (Anyone can view / edit, Anyone can view and some can edit, Specific people can view / edit)

  3. Click “Add a person or group” and search for the teammate or group who you would like to grant permissions to

  4. Decide if you want the person to have view or edit access

  5. Apply your changes and voilà the users and groups you added will now have access to the page!

To get access to improved permissions, simply download the latest version of our Android or iOS apps.

This is just the beginning of our permissions enhancements on mobile. We’re also working on allowing you to easily request access and respond to permission requests in app. Expect to see these updates in your mobile apps in the next couple of months!

We hope you enjoy these updates. As always, we welcome your feedback and comments on everything Confluence mobile, so drop us a line below if there’s anything you’d like to share!

I just used this new feature to give access to a new team member to an existing restricted page, from an airplane! Awesome.
