Currently, the Page Link field type with page creation enabled only allows selecting the Database Entry Macro or a Page Template.
Is there any kind of ETA for when Page Templates will support the Database Entry Macro?
I tinkered to try and get it work in the following ways...
1. For the DB Page Link field, set initial content to Database Entry Macro, then create an entry... copy and paste the resulting macro into a page template... then changed the DB Page Link > Initial Content to appropriate Template, and create a new DB Page Link
2. With the "blank" Database Entry Macro in a Page Template... create a new Confluence page from the template
However, none of the roundabout methods worked (which I reckon is expected)... it seems because the Database Entry Macro is hardcoded to only work with a URL that contains a valid entryID
e.g. atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/~12345679/database/987654321?entryId=affa4ba3-8e7c-4811-933b-996bd40d7ea6
If I remember correctly, the Orderly implementation of this need was pretty solid.
Hi Jonathan, thank you for the feedback. In the Beta experience today, you have the ability to create a Confluence page from a database using a template. However, it is not currently possible to have templates with database entry in them. While it is not a great workaround, you would have to add a database entry to the newly created page with a template.
We hope that this is a feature we can build out in the future after we build some other foundational capabilities for databases!
