Roadmap or Delivery Expectations? Confluence Databases is a game changer

In my personal life, I am a Notion mega user. For our org, I was an early adopter / tester of Orderly... and was so excited about that product! I feel like I have the curse of knowledge because I was able to use much more of the Confluence Databases idea / model [in Orderly] than is currently available in the Confluence Databases beta.

I am also incredibly excited about Confluence Databases. I think it is an absolute game changer for Atlassian adoption and usefulness. I am so eager to build models and an adoption strategy for it.

Is there any kind of roadmap or delivery expectations the Atlassian product team can provide? I am a PM, I know that is the most annoying question. However, I am curious if there are ANY ranges or context the team can provide?

Hey @Jonathan Prisant  - this is Divya Sriram the Product Manager for Confluence databases! Totally hear you, and we are working on making databases more effective for Confluence users as quickly as we can.

At a high level, we're really excited to be working on the following in the future:

  • stronger integrations with 1P/3P tools
  • functionality like: quick calculations (sum/avg/min/max of columns)
  • collaborative capabilities like: ability to comment + notifications
  • build out more views
  • build database templates
  • and overall, we're looking into ways to make the creation/set up of a database easier so more people can leverage the power of databases with less of a learning curve

FYI: we will be migrating our EAP instances to Beta shortly & closing the gap on the differences that exist today between EAP and Beta (for example: supporting media like images, referencing entries/values). We wanted to rollout the Beta version as soon as we could so all the folks that wanted to try databases can, as we iterate on it!

While we work on closing the gap between our Beta and EAP experiences, were there specific things that you were able to do prior that you cannot in the Beta experience?

Good read!

In addition to this response, can I ask if there is a way of getting notified each time a new feature/fix is released for us with Beta?

Or possibly a post in this closed group for us to read.

Thanks

Yes Chris, we're going to create and pin a post to showcase a list of the features and bug fixes we roll out! Keep a look out for that soon

Sounds good @Divya Sriram !  It would be great to see
1. Audit log of changes to database rows / values
2. Basic workflow for notification of changes rows
3. Basic workflow for notification of rows being added to or removed from a specific view
