How might I add a variable status color to a task list checkbox in Confluence?

Mary Lawler October 4, 2023

I have a large program across multiple companies and teams.  Everyone uses different tools to manage their work (JIRA, ServiceNow, Spreadsheets, Google Docs just to name a few).  One of the things I'm trying to make easier is how to at-a-glance show status of program level activities on a task list (using the task list function in Confluence).  Is there a way to create and allow selection of a checkbox that is Green, Yellow, or Red depending on current confidence?  And, a little fancy, if the box is checked, it is automatically made green?  All ideas are welcome, even if it's not using the task list functionality per se.

Hi @Mary Lawler ,

Maybe our app that is Table Filter and Charts for Confluence will help your case?

You may use native Confluence tables with empty/not empty checkboxes and/or statuses and color your table rows regarding on the checkbox's state or the chosen status. The Table Transformer macro will help you to fulfill the case. Later on your tables may be filtered and aggregated.

Or you may use the Table Spreadsheet macro and work with conditional formatting and other Excel-like features right on Confluence pages.

Please book a live demo from our team - we'll discuss your case thoroughly and give possible solutions.

Hi @Mary Lawler ,

Confluence tasks are binary: either done or not, and not meant to provide status information (in progress, blocked, on hold, etc etc). That's what Jira is for.

Have you had a chance to check out Atlas? This seems like it might meet your needs since it takes information from Jira and provides a high level summary.

HI @Mary Lawler

Ootb there is no such option in Confluence.

The Atlassian Marketplace might have a app or apps the might suite the solution you are seeking.
