I need to enable 2FA for our Confluence environment, to force external users to authenticate before they access confluence spaces. I've informed our external user community that they will need to download a 2FA app like DUO but since the change is global just wondering if there is any down time.
Whether you're looking at authentication policy where 2FA is set via Atlassian or enforced via IdP, or external user policy (both managed via Admin Hub), there is no system downtime. As soon as you apply/enforce 2FA, once members try to log in next time, updates will be applied > they will either have to set up 2FA via preferred/selected app, or, in case of external user policy, they will receive 8 digit verification code on their email.
