Hello Confluence Cloud Admins!
The Atlassian Navigation team is excited to introduce a new, modern navigation system designed for consistency, flexibility, and efficiency. This update will be available in Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, and Atlassian Home in early 2025.
We’re inviting interested customers to join the Confluence navigation Early Access Program (EAP) to learn more about and provide feedback on the experience.

At Atlassian, our mission is to unleash the potential of every team. Navigation is central to how people use and interact with our products, and we’ve heard that the existing navigation can sometimes feel inconsistent, rigid, and cumbersome.
To that end, we’ve been hard at work building a new navigation for all Atlassian products, and here are some of the benefits we believe come of this work:
Unified look and feel: With this change, we’ll deliver consistency across across our products, reducing friction and enhancing efficiency.
Simplified information architecture: Over time, Confluence’s side nav and top nav started to feel a bit bloated. With this refresh, we believe that users will have a clearer sense of what each part of the navigation is for.
(Future milestone) Customizable: This will allow you to choose which navigation items should be persistently visible and which ones should be hidden.
Feature | Details |
Simplified top navigation
|
We've decluttered the top navigation to give you easy access to essential tasks like search & create. |
Your most important work at your fingertips
|
Access items like Home, Recent, and Starred with just one click. |
Seamlessly switch between spaces
|
With Confluence spaces in the sidebar, switching between different pieces of work has never been faster. |
Maximize your focus
|
The persistent sidebar helps ensure that you always know your location and navigation options. If the sidebar takes up too much space for a given task, you can resize or collapse it. |
Jump into your work more quickly
|
We've cleaned up the context section of the sidebar, freeing up more space for collaboration, and placed other features like automation and analytics in the space settings. |
Note: We are still building the new navigation experience based on customer feedback from previous experiments as well as upcoming EAPs. Designs are not final.
We invite you to join our Early Access Program (EAP) If you’re interested in learning more about the new navigation experience.
This EAP is exclusively for Confluence. At this time, we are NOT accepting users who work with both Confluence and Jira.
Note that we have limited seats for this EAP. There will be more opportunities to participate in the coming weeks. Stay up to date by watching this space for details.

We are hopeful that the new navigation will make it easier for all teams to plan, track, and collaborate in a more modern and intuitive way. Thank you for all your feedback and support!
