Team ‘23: Guide to Atlassian’s newest announcements for Compass

As part of Team '23, Compass is announcing a ton of new features that enable platform engineering teams and developers to break down information siloes, reduce cognitive load to improve the developer experience, and intuitively share ops readiness and security standards across their organization.

From creating golden paths for your developers with software templates to new integrations with the tools you love, check out all of the latest enhancements for Compass:

  • New! Free catalog for all + pricing details: We believe every engineer in every organization should have access—without barriers—to the data they need to build and operate software. With that in mind, we’ve provided initial details about our pricing model, including a free software component catalog for all.

  • Coming soon! Software templates to empower your developers to create new components with pre-configured repositories, best-practice CI/CD workflows, boilerplate code, and all of your default Compass scorecards and metrics in one place.

  • New! Slack integration with Compass to make it easier for you to share software component details with your teammates directly in your Slack workspace.

  • New! Jira Software integration to make it easier than ever to get started with populating your software catalog, linking your services to issues, and managing the technical debt and dependencies impacting your team’s sprints.

  • New! Jira Service Management integration with Compass to help your teams get critical details about their services, reduce mean time to resolution in an incident, and understand how incidents are impacting their developer experience.

  • New! Integrations with technology partners like LaunchDarkly, CircleCI, Sonar, StatSig, Slack, New Relic, Swimm, Tidelift, Utoolity, Move Work Forward, Azure DevOps, Polymetis Apps, PagerDuty, Sentry (coming soon), and more.

New configuration-as-code enhancements for Compass

Configuration-as-code (CaC) enables you to improve governance, scalability, and traceability with how you create and manage your software components within Compass. Using CaC helps you create, update, and maintain config files from a single centralized location while leveraging a consistent deployment approach to keep the data in your software component catalog up to date.

Our customers asked for it, and we’re proud to announce that you can now manage and support the following features by updating a YAML configuration file directly within your source code management tool:

✅ Manage component labels
✅ Update custom field values
✅ Manage the lifecycle attribute
✅ Declare and change the component type

Learn more about these enhancements here. If you aren’t already managing your components through config-as-code, learn more about it today!

Besides popular integrations with CircleCI, GitHub, GitLab, New Relic, Sentry, Swimm, Swagger UI, Kratix, and more, platform engineers and developers can directly integrate their favorite tools into Compass to improve visibility into their distributed architecture and reduce the cognitive load of building on microservices.
