Pending components are now optional, and off by default on new sites

Hi Compass community,

In September last year, we shipped Pending components. Check out the original announcement here: Announcement: Admins can now review and approve components

We’ve gotten a number of improvement requests, but haven’t had a chance to invest more in it. As a short term solution, we have decided to make Pending components optional. Pending components can now be turned off and on by Compass admins. New sites created after today will have Pending components off by default. We’re not going to turn it off on existing sites automatically.

Let’s walk through the process of turning on/off Pending components. Here’s what your site probably looks like today - with Pending components on.

To turn Pending components off, click the Settings wheel in the top right corner:

Click "Pending components" in the left sidebar to get here:

Important: if you have any components still in Pending when you go to turn the feature off, they will be automatically published. Make sure that you delete any Pending components before you switch the feature off if you need to. If you still have Pending components, you’ll get the below warning before you turn the feature off:

Once you switch off Pending components, your settings screen will look like this:

When you go back to the Components tab, you will no longer see the Pending inbox. (You may need to refresh for it to be removed.)
