Dance with the cake.

• How was the Atlassian-themed recipe was chosen:
  We had a poll with a few Atlassian community Nairobi members on how we should celebrate the half a decade we have been around besides food and drinks, the cake featured prominently.

  • So fondant cake was inevitable to cater for transportation and temperature change.

  • Also to ensure a great taste and longevity in case we decided to keep for our friends who would consume later Fruit cake was settled on. 

  • Last but least it was decided the cake would be 5 levels tall to represent 5yrs we have been in existence. 
  • The cake's outer fondant layer was also decided to be blue to represent Atlassian's official theme color.

• The actual recipe so we can include it in an Atlassian Community Cookbook:

  1. 4382g of wheat flour
  2. 3416gms of margarine
  3. 2625gms of brown sugar
  4. 56 eggs
  5. 7 tablespoons of vanilla essence
  6. 154gms of baking powder 
  7. 14 tablespoons of mixed spice powder
  8. 7 tablespoons of cinnamon powder
  9. 1000gms of soaked mixed fruits
  10. 6000gms of fondant
  11. 5000gms of buttercream

• A summary of how your bake went (highs + lows, how it tasted, who you shared it with)

• • Set your oven 180°C and warm for 15 minutes
  • Bake for 60 minutes (180°C)
  • Few challenges:
    • The architecture of ensuring 5 levels hold as it is transported we used standing sticks were used to ensure stability.
    • A fondant color scheme that reflects the required results. 
  • The cake was shared with over 200 Atlassian community Nairobi members and each one of them enjoyed it at least from the feedback we received..
