unable to retrieve recovery code using SSH

Syed Shahzeb Hasan August 25, 2020

I login bitbucket with my google account. But I lost my 2FA device now.

How can I get the recovery code by SSH Recovery? It needs a password.

What's the password?

Hi @Syed Shahzeb Hasan, welcome to the Community!

The password is whatever password you chose when you were setting 2FA for your account. We don't know what password you used, but it's the same password you type when you use your SSH key.

I'm assuming you're being prompted for the password when you run the following command, is that correct?:

ssh git@bitbucket.org recovery_codes

This command will bring out 6 recovery codes (one time use only) that you can use to get in. This is explained at Retrieve recovery codes through SSH.

If you can not obtain these codes, and didn't save the recovery code we initially sent you, please submit a support ticket so we can help you with this.

Regards,
