Hey folks,

I'm resuming work on a project that I haven't touched for about 18 months, and did my last commit to Bitbucket in May 2018. Yesterday I returned and found that Atlassian asks me to sign up for Bitbucket cloud, and when I try to do that, it asks me to choose a username. I type in the username I had before, and it tells me that username is already taken.

I only have two emails that I use to register anywhere, and neither of them are registered with bitbucket cloud. But, my username (and presumably, my code repo) still exists somewhere in Bitbucket limbo.

How do I (or can I) register with this new Atlassian world and reconnect with my old Bitbucket username?

Hello @Eigentourist,

This is likely related to the onboarding of Bitbucket users to Atlassian ID which happened in the last year.

Please open a support case here and give more details on the username and linked email you used, and our Support team will be able to help you link your existing user to the Atlassian ID you're now using.

Cheers,
Daniil
