git pull hangs on ubuntu

I can do git pull and push from my mac, but on ubuntu, git pull hangs. 

ping bitbucket.org is odd too.  On mac ping works fine, showing an IP V4 address.

on ubuntu ping hangs and shows a IP v6 address.

Any ideas for fixing this?

After posting this I restarted ubuntu and the problem went away.  There were a number of ubuntu updates recently made.  I did not see a warning that a restart was needed.  Just the same, my problem went away.
