ed25519 ssh key support ?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Invalid SSH Key

Does Bitbucket support ed25519 SSH keys ? If not, do you plan to? If so, when?

Thanks, Dariush (dariushmm)

Bitbucket.org has had ed25519 support since August 2016.

Okay, let me be a little bit more specific; Bitbucket Server (formerly known as Stash) does not support ed25519.

Hi @Bruno Thomsen, it looks like Bitbucket Server added support for this in May 2017.

Just retested it with our Bitbucket Server v5.4.1 instance and can confirm that ed25519 SSH keys now works.

Very nice.

Looking at the Atlassian documentation for Bitbucket it looks like their SSH implementation is 2 decades old since it's completely missing elliptic curve cryptography. So no support for ecdsa and ed25519 which is very sad, since I was counting on ed25519 support.

Just in case you are interested; GitLab has ed25519 support.
