First thing first, the community consists of the member of similar interest on Atlassian tools and tools integrated into the products but not to the extent of going on a call.

The DMZ is a good idea but would restrict the LAN access which could lead to troublesome troubleshooting in case the application goes down or even worse the DMZ network became inaccessible. 

You can look into the Securing a reverse proxy using HTTPS to achieve your objective os securing the application.
