Repository Size is showing incorrect value needs git gc

karmendra April 3, 2018

I cleaned up my repository

Now when I tried a git clone, total size of the clone folder is only 96.8 MB,

But when I go to Repository Details settings it shows repository size as 1.5 GB

I read somewhere that bitbucket support should run git gc from back-end after a clean up is done. I did a clean up approximately a month ago (I still see the repository size warning btw).

Following images show my new clone and it size on disk

Your help is highly appreciated.

Regards,

K

Hi! I've checked the repo biz in our system and I could see its size is 61.9 MB. Can you check the size again and let us know if you still see some mismatch? If so, please send us a screenshot so we can continue helping you.

Kind regards!
Ana

Thanks Ana for looking at this.

After writing this question in community here, I realized, to contact support, there might be some thing else and I found https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/ link, and placed a request for git gc there, and I got instant help to reduce the repository size to what you are seeing now.
