Regarding backups, this page includes the following information:
"Snapshot backups are generated hourly and retained for 30 days to allow for point-in-time data restoration. Snapshots are encrypted at rest, and our platform service performs periodic automated tests of backup integrity. The Support team can help recover core repository content only, as long as the deletion happened within the last 7 days. We are unable to recover metadata or any content that was deleted past 7 days."
This seems confusing/contradictory to me. Can someone explain under which conditions data can only be retrieved up to 7 days after deletion, and under which conditions that time period is 30 days?
Hi @Jonathan Hearn,
Welcome to the community.
We take daily snapshots of your data. We retain these snapshots on our primary systems, replicate them to an offsite Data Center, and maintain them in both locations for seven days.
I would like to clarify in that article, the snapshots we keep for 30 days are for disaster recovery only to prevent any issues from our side with regard to data integrity.
Having said that, we're only limited to a 7-day window for repository core data restorations.
Alternatively, you can also perform your own backup as mentioned in this article: Backup GIT repositories
