On what is the Server ID based on?

Deleted user September 23, 2014

Hi, I tried installing Stash in a Docker container, but on each run it changed the Server ID.

I ended up installing on a Digital Ocean droplet but need to regenerate it to activate a feature (backups).

On what is the Server ID based on? I hope not hardware. Docker also runs based on the same image, and it still gave different ids (same OS). Does it generate a new random ID with each new installation?

What I really need to know is if I make a snapshot (backup) of my server, and recover it in a new machine... will the Server ID be the same, thus keeping the license valid?

Thanks!

Hi Helder,

Please note that server ID is not tied to your license. As long as your license used by only one instance, it should not cause any issue. Please refer to the following documentation for extra detail regarding server id:

Hope it help.
