I want to log in to an old bitbucket repo that was created with only a username and no email. It is not associated with any email.

How would I recover that repo?

Hi etidalgo and welcome to the community.

In case your repo was hosted in Bitbucket Cloud (https://bitbucket.org/), we removed user accounts without an Atlassian account at the beginning of 2023.

If that Bitbucket Cloud account was never associated with an email address, then it also lacked an Atlassian account and it was removed.

I'm afraid that recovery of such a repo is no longer possible in this case.

Please note that there is an existing Bitbucket Cloud account with the same email address as your community account. If you are looking for a repo that this account has access to, then you can:

  • Log in to https://bitbucket.org/.
  • Select your avatar (top right corner) > All workspaces.
You will see a list of all workspaces this account has access to.
  • Select a certain workspace, and then select Repositories from the menu at the top to see that workspace's repos (the ones you have access to, if it is not your work workspace)

Kind regards,
Theodora

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Bitbucket Cloud has never supported accounts without an email, so I have to assume you are trying to retrieve access to a server system.

You won't be able to just recover an individual account, you will need to log in as an admin and change the account details.  To get access as an admin if you have lost the admin account details, see https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/lockout-recovery-process-776640158.html
