After today, we will begin deactivating all user accounts that lack an Atlassian account which also means these accounts will lose access to Bitbucket. In 2016, we began migrating Bitbucket Cloud accounts to Atlassian accounts, and any Bitbucket Cloud account created after 2017 is automatically linked to an Atlassian account. If you are able to log-in to bitbucket.org and use the product today, you are unaffected by this change.
We recently sent an email to communicate to users who have access to any Bitbucket repositories where the owner hasn’t migrated to an Atlassian account. These emails were sent to affected users to allow an opportunity to transfer or clone the repositories before the owner will be deactivated and lose access to Bitbucket Cloud.
If you have received an email communication from us or you noticed you lost access to a previously accessible repository, leave a comment on this community post and our team will work with you.
Note: After the deactivation process is complete, we will begin removing user accounts that lack an Atlassian ID from Bitbucket Cloud on January 30, 2023.
