Integrating LDAP to Bitbucket cloud

angelaaa January 20, 2022

Hey,

Is there somewhere a guide on how to connect bitbucket cloud to AD?

On the server, it's made with user directories but on the cloud user directory seems to be different.

I saw this flow: Can be done: LDAP <-> Okta/ADFS <-> Atlassian Access <-> Bitbucket

We use Okta for verification but I don't quite understand how to connect it

and is it a must to use Atlassian Access?

Thanks.

Hey @angelaaa

That's correct we can't get directly LDAP to integrate Atlassian Cloud Applications. So authentication and authorization mechanism will happen involving an SSO Solution.

We have to use Atlassian Access for connecting SAML SSO Idp to Atlassian Access

To connect OKTA with Atlassian Access did you check this doc

https://support.atlassian.com/provisioning-users/docs/configure-user-provisioning-with-okta/

Please check this thread too it may be helpful https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Bitbucket-questions/Can-you-connect-bitbucket-cloud-to-active-directory/qaq-p/1420485

Hi @angelaaa,

The Atlassian Cloud application does not support integration with AD directly.

However, you can connect Okta to AD and use Atlassian Access to sync the user and group information in Bitbucket cloud via SSO.

Please refer to the below links to integrate AD with Okta.

  1. Get started with LDAP integration.
  2. Integrate Okta with LDAP AD.

Thanks & Regards,

Nitin
