How to inhibit read/write access of a team member without removing him/her from the team?

HI,

I would like to know if it is possible to inhibit the access of a team member from reading and writing, without removing the person from the team?

May I know in case we remove a team member, do we lose the activity history of his/her work? How is it possible to remove the member without losing his/her activity history?
