External developers can pull, but not push to repo

Hi!  we're trying to set up our external devs w/ access to our repo.  We've had a couple of issues:

1. when cloning using the SSH option and a CLI, they are unable to clone down the repository

2. when using the https option and github, the devs can clone down the repository, pull down changes, but upon push an error populates asking to make sure they have the correct access rights and prompting login.  The bitbucket login then doesn't take their credentials.
