Hi All!
If I migrate Bitbucket to the cloud, can I still keep my on-prem environment for resilience in the case of an Atlassian outage?
For anyone following this, I received the following from Atlassian Support:
"Unfortunately, such a setup is not possible. The repositories can not be shared/ cohosted on Bitbucket Cloud and on Datacenter simultaneously. If the availability metrics of Bitbucket Cloud at the moment are not suitable/acceptable for your project, the only option is to continue to use Bitbucket Datacenter with a high availability setup for Bitbucket DC.
We understand that this is not the answer you were hoping for but I hope the information provided above addresses your concerns."
So, unless more spend with a Marketplace solution is involved, this can't be done with current Atlassian software.
Hello @Matthew Day ,
It's hardly possible to call a backup as in this situation you will probably need to update with current Bitbucket data both your Bitbucet DC and Bitbucket Cloud manually on a regular basis.
If you're looking for a bakup solution for your Bitbucket, take a look at GitProtect backup and Disaster Recovery software for Bitbucket (also, Jira Cloud, JSM, and JWM). With the backup solution it's possible to schedule automated backups to multiple storage locations - both local and cloud - any S3-compatible (moreover, once you set a backup plan with GitProtect, you get GitProtect Cloud Storage for free). Among other features, it's worth mentioning data replication between storages, unlimited retention, full data coverage, ransomware protection, Disaster Recovery Technology (point-in-time restore, granular recovery, restore to the same or a new account, restore to the local machine, cross-over recovery to another git hosting - GitLab or GitHub).
You can try the solution for free on Atlassian Marketplace: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1225728/gitprotect-io-backup-for-bitbucket?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
Or if you have any questions regarding backup, you can schedule a live demo
Hope you will find this answer helpful,
Regards,
Daria

Hi @Daria Kulikova_GitProtect_io , thanks for your response. We're community licensed as we are a non-profit, so I'm not sure that solution would fit my budget, but it was an interesting response. I'll have a look.

@Daria Kulikova_GitProtect_io -> the marketplace app doesn't show compatibility with ver 8+, which we are using. Also, I cannot locate pricing. Clicking the link for 'Contact the vendor' essentially looked to initiate a trial, which I did not want to do.

@Matthew Day , you can schedule a live demo, where you can talk to my colleague and ask any questions related to backup. Here is a link: https://calendly.com/d/3s9-n9z-pgc/gitprotect-live-demo?month=2024-06&date=2024-06-05
Ragarding pricing, here is a link to our webpage: https://gitprotect.io/pricing.html

G'day, @Matthew Day
I don't think it's possible since the Bitbucket server and cloud don't have a way to sync. So, changes in the Bitbucket cloud will not be reflected in your server and vice versa.
