Are IBM AS400 Development Pipelines with Bamboo a real thing?

drscarbro March 8, 2018

My company has a requirement of build and deploy agents for AS400 projects.

We're evaluating a number of Software Project Management suites.

I like Atlassian, but I can't find any information about Build and Deploy for IBM products.

Does anyone have any experience with an AS400 build and deploy? Is it possible with Bitbucket and Bamboo?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Daniel, can you describe in more detail what you want to achieve? Do you want to build on those systems or just copy files (that are output of builds) there?

If you want to build, can you run the dependencies needed to build? Can you use git or run Java programs?

In the meantime, you could also have a look at this other Community thread in case it helps.

Regards!

Hi, Ana.

Thanks for your reply. I have read the reference article.

We have two requirements.

1. Compile on or off of the IBM i Series using build agents.

2. Deploy compiled objects and associated assets on the IBM i Series using deployment agents.

I was hoping for a simple way of doing this. Maybe utilize a linux lpar on the IBM for build and deploy with Bamboo Remote Agents.

So far, I can't find any information about this scenario for i Series. However, I have found an article about AIX using Bamboo build agents.
