How do I disable a deployment environment?

Beyond the obvious answers such as:

  1. disabling any triggers
  2. changing the permissions
  3. Putting in a task at the beginning that immediately fails

Is there a way to disable deployment environments in the same way that you can disable Plans, Jobs and Tasks?
