jira automation to move ticket to a new project - created in wrong project does automation allow to move to new project
Hello @Christine
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
The Jira Automation Rules feature does not include a Move Issue action. When an issue is moved that process can require the user to make corrections such as selecting a valid status and issue type for the issue in the new project. Those sorts of interactive decisions can't be made in an Automation rule.
You can use the Clone Issue action to make a Clone of the original issue into the desired project, and set fields appropriately as part of the Clone issue action.
If you have sufficient permissions you could also use a Delete Issue action to delete the original issue. Personally I don't like to delete issues since they are permanently gone at that point and can't be recovered. Instead you might transition the source issue to a "closed" status and add a comment about it having been created in the wrong project.
Hi @Christine,

No, automation cannot move a ticket to a different project, but you could clone the issue to the new project and then either link the two tickets or close/delete the original one.

Hello @Christine and welcome to the Atlassian Community!
As an alternative to Automation (that can be really complex sometimes), I would suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync to move a Jira issue from one project to another.
The configuration is really simple, you can check the guide here.
The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

This is the procedure to move multiple issues to another project.

I'm not sure why you would use automation vs. just "bulk" moving the issue from one project to the other? Go to your "Issues" view, narrow down your selection to just the one Issue you want to move, select that issue, click on the ellipse on the top right hand of the screen select "Bulk Change" and follow the prompts to move your issue from one project to the other.
