What is the value of List view in JIRA?

What can you do here that you can't do in Issues? I'm trying to find a way to view all the sprints in one place, sort of like the backlog but for done and active too, but I can't figure that out. I tried through lists, but it doesn't seem to let me.

List view is about listing issues, not other types of entities.

Some of the differences between List View and Issues View:

• In List View you can create issues. In Issues view you cannot create issues.
• In List View the issues are nested hierarchically (Epics/Child Issues/Subtasks) and the hierarchical levels are collapsible. That is not available in the Issues view.
• List View has prefabricated filters and does not allow you to create a free-form filter with JQL. Issues View lets you modify the base filter with JQL but does not have the same sorts of prefabricated filters.

What information are you trying to obtain in your listing of sprints besides the Sprint name? 

I don't think there is a built in report that simply lists all the sprints besides the pull-downs available in the Sprint Report(s) available in the Reports section of a scrum board. If you can tell us what you want to get in your report we might be able to suggest some options.

Hi Allan,

I mainly use the List View for viewing and updating information more in a spreadsheet type function. Plus it has the ability to show hierarchies and has a bulk function.
