The "Deployment Status Change" Trigger does not detect certain statuses.

When I am trying to create an automation using the "Deployment Status Change" trigger to keep track of deployment statuses and send slack message, the "pending" and "in progress" statuses for the deployment are not triggering the automation. Is there a certain condition to trigger these statuses?
