Team Managed Project - board cards

Andrew Madar April 4, 2024

Is there a way to stack the cards on the Board view?  I have a customer requesting me to do so.

Hi @Andrew Madar

What does your customer mean by "stack the cards on the Board view"?  What would that look like?

Kind regards,
Bill

in the Board view, they usually have TO DO, IN PROGRESS, ON-HOLD, DONE etc..

Instead of a single card across the board, make some custom status cards, and place them beneath IN PROGRESS versus next to it.

First, and to help align on some Jira terminology:

  • an Issue is a work item in Jira; sometimes people refer to these as Cards or Tickets as some believe they have that appearance on a Board
  • a Board is a view of issues, based on some saved Filter
  • a Status is step in the workflow for an issue
  • on the board, there are Columns; there can be one or more Status values mapped to each Column

Back to your question, Boards rarely have only one Issue on them, and even then it is not shown across all Columns at once.

If you are instead asking how can multiple status values can be shown in one column, that is possible by configuring the board, and adding multiple status values to the column.  The specifics of how to do that depend upon the type of project used.
