I set a rule to run and send emails but the JQL search was incorrect and now im receiving an email for every issue in my project which is using up my automation limit - how do I abort it quickly?!
Hello @Niki Woolston
Start by disabling the rule.
Can you tell us more about this rule? Is the JQL part of a scheduled trigger or a Lookup Issues action?
If the JQL exist within a single rule then the rule is running only once. The number of issues returned in a JQL within a rule is not a factor in the rule usage count.
For more information on how rule usage is calculated refer to

There are no exact way to abort an automation rule when it started running - it's either success or failed.
Start by disabling the automation rule to prevent the incorrect rule from running further.
Next, troubleshoot the issue by checking from the automation log. It will tell us what has happened in the backend side of things.
Since you mentioned it's on JQL, do pre-test the query under issue navigator before configuring in the instance.
