Upgrade to JCMA versions 1.12.5 and above for migrations planned on or after May 6, 2025

ℹ️ TL;DR
If you are using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) to migrate to cloud, with a plan-to-migrate date on or after May 6, 2025, you must download and run your migration on JCMA version 1.12.5 or newer to avoid migration failure.

Dear Atlassian Community,

We are committed to continuously enhancing our tools and services to better meet your needs for scalability and minimal downtime during migrations. Starting May 6, 2025, we will exclusively support JCMA versions 1.12.5 and newer. Migrations executed on JCMA versions 1.12.4 and older on or after May 6, 2025, will result in migration failure. To ensure a smooth migration experience, we encourage you to upgrade to the latest JCMA versions. This will help you avoid any potential disruptions and take full advantage of our latest features and improvements. Please read below to understand how this may impact your migration and to get guidance on how to proceed.

Ensuring future-ready migrations:

The latest JCMA versions are built on a new platform that supports project-by-project (PbP) migrations, offering numerous benefits, such as:

  • Scale & complexity - designed to handle complex migration strategies, PbP allows for phased migrations, selective data migration, and supports multiple site migrations without disrupting your cloud environment.

  • Advanced migration capabilities - PbP is underpinned by a collection of shared services that are part of the Migration Tooling Platform. By increasing our investment in PbP, we are enhancing the consistency of our data portability offerings. This commitment also paves the way for new and innovative migration capabilities, including public migration APIs.

  • Improved migration experience - PbP offers a comprehensive data portability solution, streamlining the migration process with enhanced visibility and troubleshooting capabilities.

For more details on project-by-project migrations, please refer to our blog.

What do I need to do?

JCMA versions 1.12.4 and below will be unsupported as of May 6, 2025. If you’re actively pursuing a migration, we strongly recommend going through the following checklist:
