Join the Early Access Program (EAP) for Migration of Archived Issues

Hello Atlassian Community,

I'm Shraddha, product manager for Jira Migrations. We are thrilled to announce a key milestone in our efforts to make cloud migrations more seamless and efficient - the launch of our Early Access Program (EAP) for migrating archived issues from Jira Server to Cloud.

Gone are the days when you had to leave your archived issues behind or use workarounds to migrate them to the cloud. We understand the importance of preserving historical data, and with this feature, you can now migrate your archived issues natively in the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA), maintaining their status as archived in the cloud.

The goal of the EAP is to offer our community the opportunity to get access and provide feedback on the new feature of migrating archived issues from server to cloud.

What to Expect from Migration of Archived Issues

To ensure you have a clear understanding of what this feature will support at launch, the following table outlines what components will and will not be migrated during the EAP:

Components Migrated

 Components not migrated

  • Comments
  • Attachments
  • Worklog History
  • Notification Scheme
  • Links/URLs
  • Linked Issues
  • Global Permissions
  • Project permissions associated with archived issues

  • Priority schemes for archived project

Archiving issues on the cloud is an exclusive feature available only to Atlassian Cloud Premium subscribers, accessible via APIs. Learn more about issue archival on the cloud through this announcement.

Main Capabilities of Archived Issues Migration:

  • Seamless Migration: Effortlessly migrates archived issues while preserving their status.

  • Preservation of change logs: Maintains integrity of issue history during the migration of change logs for archived issues.

  • Migration of notification scheme: Ensures all users continue to receive all relevant notifications post-migration.

How to Participate in the EAP

  1. Step 1: Sign up here.

  2. Step 2: Once you’re selected, we'll reach out to confirm your participation. We will also add you to a private community group where you will gain access to more resources about the EAP.

  3. Step 3: Upgrade to JCMA 1.10.5 and start your journey by testing out the experience and sharing your invaluable feedback with us!

Your insights and experiences will be invaluable in refining the migration of archived issues, ensuring it caters to your needs effectively. We encourage you to sign up for the EAP. If you have any questions or need further clarification, feel free to comment below or email us at sgarg6@atlassian.com.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the Atlassian community!

Best,
Shraddha Garg
