Contacting Atlassian Support during a Cloud Migration

Many of you are aware that Atlassian has a team dedicated to supporting organisations move from on premise to Cloud but not everyone is aware of the quickest and easiest way to contact them.

Go to https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/ and select the option for migration support. This will create a MOVE ticket in the Atlassian system which will then be used to interact with you.

However, it adds value to that engagement if you make sure you have checked some key things before you reach out for support.

Are you following the approach documented at https://www.atlassian.com/migration/cloud/guide/prep/team-and-site

And in particular did you complete the pre-migration checklists?

Also is your problem related to the core product or to an App? If the latter you may need to reach out to the appropriate Marketplace Partner for assistance.

Also remember that this migration gives you an opportunity to look at the business value that your customisations bring vs the additional overhead of managing them, so do not miss this opportunity to undertake a spring clean of your instances.

Great reminder, @Phill Fox

I hear too many on-prem customers say things like "we'll start thinking about that more seriously a few weeks before our server is up for renewal."  This is one of those situations where you need to give yourself enough time to ensure a smooth and relatively pain-free migration.
